Rivayete göre Yıldırım Bayezid, Niğbolu Savaşı öncesinde zafer kazanması halinde yirmi cami yaptırmayı adadı.

Zaferin ardından Emir Sultan'ın, yirmi ayrı cami yerine yirmi kubbeli büyük bir cami yaptırılmasını tavsiye ettiği anlatılır.

Bugün Bursa Ulu Cami, yirmi kubbesiyle erken Osmanlı mimarisinin en önemli yapılarından biri olarak Bursa'nın merkezinde yükseliyor.

Why does Bursa Grand Mosque have 20 domes?

According to a traditional account, Bayezid I vowed to build twenty mosques if he won the Battle of Nicopolis.

After the victory, Emir Sultan is said to have advised him to build one great mosque with twenty domes instead of twenty separate mosques.

Today, Bursa Grand Mosque remains one of the most important monuments of early Ottoman architecture.
